Find the Frames

Jay-Z's new music video, "Death of Autotune" premiered last weekend. Even though I find it a little hard to believe that he could hit a jump shot over LeBron, I can believe that he has the best styles when it comes to sunglasses. If anyone can find and confirm the frame, I'll give you a prize.

Los Angeles...

The time spent in California was unbelievable. Lots of new friends, great weather, and loads of fish tacos from San Diego. I spent most of the time enjoying the night life, but during the day I had time to look around for some cool sunglasses and boutiques. The picture above is one of the L.A. Eyeworks office's in Los Angeles. It is located on Melrose. The frames below are Super and Anon brand sunglasses. I spotted these at a local DJ/turntable store.

All in all a great trip, and hopefully I can work something out to bring these awesome frames into the South.

Eye Spy

I'm beginning to think that Oakley is pushing pretty hard with collaborations on their Frogskin frames. This time, they teamed up with the snowboarding company, Grenade, with these dark green Frogskin frames.

SUPER FRAMES: FOUND!!!

Landed in Los Angeles Sunday morning and the weather was perfect. Will be posting throughout the week. Stay tuned...

Couple of days back, I saw Kanye West wear some really cool glasses for his remix of Beyonce's "Ego" song. He wore some really awesome glasses and I did a mass search. Thanks to Lauren A., she told me they were called Super. So I did a little homework and found them in Los Angeles at Space15twenty.

Thanks to Lauren A. who graciously spent some time looking up what Kanye wore in Beyonce's new "Ego" music video. He is wearing these frames from SUPER. The model is the Flat Black and can be found on their website. They sell them for 94 Euros, so about $125-$135 dollars. Oh and her prize was a chicken biscuit.

eye-spy: Birmingham may close satellite courthouses

Jefferson Co. satellite courthouses could close by Aug. 15

Saw this article via al.com. If the budget cuts continue, all of us savvy people who know about the DOT location behind the Purple Onion in Homewood, will have to actually wait even longer at the official courthouse in the city. Yikes!!! Hope this doesn't really happen, but it's still a possibility.

Very Limited...

Super Sunglasses just made an exclusive pair of their Flat Top Havana Glitter. Good luck to those who even try these on. They made 46 of these to coincide with their pop up store in Los Angeles.

Primitive + Oakley Frogskin

Since the 1980's are back in the scene, Oakley has been supplying those "in" the scene with frogskin frames. These are another prime example of adding fuel into the throwback fire. I'm not a fan of loud colors, but these aren't bad.

Thanks to hypebeast!!!

So it turns out that Auburn, AL is one of the top 10 places to live. The ranking is from U.S. News and World Report. Just thought that this was very interesting, especially since the city is heavily based around the university.

Life needs spell check

I'm not going to disclose this person's name, but I can assure you that she is a friend of mine via facebook. Sometimes in life, I just hope that there are things I cannot control; gravity, the moon, and people. However, the picture above just further proves to me that grammar is as important as the color white is to snow. Especially when one is speaking through a hat.

(Hands embracing face)
Apparently "The Hangover" was a huge hit amongst my friends. A lot of people are saying great things about it. I wanted to watch it this past weekend, but I was out of town. However, I was able to figure out and find what type of sunglasses Zach Galifianakis was wearing during the movie.

"He has on a pair of demi tortoise nylon Blublocker sunglasses. These glasses are known from TV infomercials, and are very inexpensive. It's the most popular model of Blublocker, and only recently became available in this tortoise color.

These Blublockers have temples made of memory retention nylon. The temples stretch and contract to fit any size face and the pin hinges are thick and durable. The large lens provides ample protection and the nosepads are molded into the frame itself."

Got the description from the website that identified the sunglasses.

New Oliver Peoples

Came across these Oliver Peoples sunglasses in the men.style.com site about Spring/Summer 2009 sunglasses. Here is the link for the whole slide show: http://men.style.com/theupgrader/style/features/see-through-sunglasses. I'll update if I find a pair around Birmingham.

Schaeffer Eye Center @ aloft hotel with Birmingham Magazine

Last night's party at aloft hotel went by with a success. The staff from Schaeffer Eye Center came by and showed off the available frames from their offices. The picture above is a shot of most of them at the party. Who has two thumbs and had to set the timer for the picture? This Guy!!!

Thanks to all those that came out to Birmingham Magazine's Beautiful People Party.

Beautiful People Party

Tonight is the night that Birmingham Magazine will showcase the most beautiful people of Birmingham for 2009. Come by aloft hotel in homewood from 5-7 to meet them, and have your picture taken to be considered for next year's most beautiful people of Birmingham. I'll be there to help the celebration by setting up iMac's photobooth. Not a real booth, but something from a computer. Hope to see everyone there!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

This morning as I was working on transcribing some notes from a meeting yesterday, John Michael walks in with my new sunglasses. They are Paul Smith ps-3010.

I got these at Schaeffer Eye Center in the 5 Points South office (next to Ruby Tuesday). They also had these in black, but I decided to go with a light brown frame. Can't wait to find a reason to go outside today...boom goes the dynamite.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

As I was trying to find some new things to add to this blog, I thought, "why not add some of the events Schaeffer Eye Center puts together with other businesses around town?" Birmingham Magazine has their "Beautiful People" search and I came across my very good friend Mr. Zach Williams.

He is a very beautiful man. I hope he doesn't punch me when I say that he is terrible at making macaroni necklaces. Just kidding.

Oakley + Shaun White = one-of-a-kind frames

Found this design from hypebeast.com and here is what they said about it:

"Long time Oakley endorsee Shaun White works up his own rendition of the timeless Frogskin model. After designed his own set of Montefrio frames from the Square O campaign, these limited edition joints were a natural addition to the brands arsenal of lifestyle and sport performance eyewear. The sunglasses feature violet iridium lenses amongst a clear frame and custom baggie. A release is slated for next month via select Oakley retailers."

Will try to locate a frame in town. I'll update everyone if I find a pair.
